Eastbound and Down

The birthday boy did get his letter from Hogwarts, so a ‘quick’ trip to Florida was next on the agenda. Based on our estimates of “haulin’ ass” we figured we could get there in 3 days. It took four.

You’ve got to slow down a little bit in Louisiana for Cajun food. Then, we might as well get off the interstate and follow the coast for a bit. That Dauphin Island ferry takes a while.

Our campsites were a little uninspired, but functional. This isn’t the wild west coast or open desert. It’s swampy.

Still, we managed to find some National Forest Service sites (free!) when we could. Every now and then (depending on internet) we add spots to the Campendium map if it’s not there already – a pretty nice resource for U.S. camping.

I see I’m not the only one that Smokey and The Bandit left an indelible impression on as a kid.

    Martin-

We’re still here! But, we’re spending significantly less time in front of a computer these days (it’s a good thing)! We’ll be back in the saddle soon – just trying to wrap up a few bus projects first 😉
