To Trinidade
The brakes are mostly fixed – it was a collapsed front brake hose as so many people pointed out over on Facebook. Apparently, they only last about 3.5 years. Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, I could not get the proper hose right away, so I used a substitute part to keep things rolling. It’s a shorter hose, with the wrong fitting on one end. But, if I removed the steel brake line at the wheel, I could screw it directly into the brake caliper. We won’t go very far like this, but we can drive it a little while.
Up the road is Ubatuba. I had heard from talking to folks that this was paradise. Well, it’s a fairly large port city, so not exactly paradise. I think what they meant was that the area is paradise. I just like saying Ubatuba.
One thing I did find here was the ‘correct’ brake hose. I took my old one to a peças house and the guy went in the back and came back with a handful of brake hoses. We just sorted through them until we found two that matched pretty closely. Five bucks each, and I can finish my project.
This also seems to be the only place in the region with a sizable grocery store. Parking on isle 4.
We kept moving north and hit a few other beaches. Praia de Itamambuca had potential, but we wanted to get farther. Same with Praia Prumirim. We finally hit the jackpot and found a camp spot right on the beach at Praia de Fora in Trinidade.
How do you keep the sand out of your bus? I can’t even imagine…
It’s a losing battle. Same goes for insects and rain.
love that one of bode!! although it does remind me a lot of christopher atkins in the blue lagoon. OK, a younger christopher atkins. google it.
Nice fix, MacGyver! Also like that tool tray 🙂
Val.
Just assisting you that the name of that place is “Trindade”, not “TrinIdad”.
“Trindade” is a rarely usede word in portuguese and means something like anything made by three things. It’s most comonly used to refer to god, jesus e saint spirit as a “Trindade”.
