Dinosaur Act

‘Cause I’m coming back with my dinosaur act
Do you forget me baby
After the fact (I’m telling you)
I’m coming back with my dinosaur act
I still remember baby what we both lack
We both lack
We both lack

-Matthew Sweet

I used to love this song (and album) during my 90’s singer/songwriter phase, but after searching for the lyrics I just can’t explain this one.

Just outside of Sucre is a truly amazing archeological find discovered only about 15 years ago. A cement company digging for whatever it is they dig for, hit an area that was too soft to use. On a nearly vertical slice of a hill they found over 5,000 dinosaur footprints belonging to over 15 different species of dinosaurs.

Cal Orck’o como el yacimiento de huellas de dinosaurio más importante localizado en el mundo, en términos de tamaño, diversidad, valor geológico

Of course the photos make them hard to distinguish, but with the use of their telescopes it is actually really cool.

Back when these dinos ruled the world, Bolivia was FLAT! And, the oceans were quite nearby while this was a giant lake/ dinosaur drinking hole. I like to imagine it like an old western saloon, but Bode keeps singing the cantina song from Star Wars, so my imagination is running wild.

Eventually, the Earth moved mountains were formed and the footprints appear as if they are going up a giant cliff.

More interesting to the kids are the anatomically correct statues. Bode loved them, and we had to walk through the park twice.

Also, if you are interested, our friend Katie just published an interview with us over at 8 Women Dream. She was actually one of the many people to help finance this trip by buying some of our crap stuff before we left! Thanks Katie!

Wow! That last picture — that would be a catastrophe even worse than the grackles on Speedway.
