Hola, i found your site after looking on drivetheamericas under ‘Connect with other Roadtrippers’. Was thinking i might run into someone wanting to share a 40 ft container while crossing the Darien Gap. I’m currently near Mexico City and will probably try to ship my vehicle from Colon, Panama to Cartagena, Colombia within the next 5 to 6 weeks. Please let me know if you’re interested in splitting the cost of a shipping container to save some money? Cheers! and good luck with your travels!
Hey Guys, I’m still loving your trip. I had a question for you. I have purchased a set of Brazilian mirrors for my baywindow through justkampers of the UK. I had a piece fall off and need another mirror. (Justkampers doesn’t sell individual pieces and the price of a new mirror plus shipping from the uk is quite high) Your latest update showed me that the mirrors on my bus are also used on the buses in Mexico. Wondering if next time Jason stopped by a parts place, if he could ask about a replacement mirror and the cost. If reasonable, I could paypal you the amount needed for shipping, purchase and your trouble. Keep having fun and try not to spoil Bode TOO much. haha!
Hello everybody here in Brazil we have many VW Bus circulating is almost an icon of our country is used for all types of transport such as school bus, loads of more varied.
VW was the first car manufactured in our country, here she is lovingly called the”Old Lady. ”
The trip is very fun! despite some unexpected happened to you.
Thanks for sharing the photos of busses at work. It is awesome to see the distant cousins of our beloved busses doing exactly what they were meant to do rather than sitting in a field or garage rusting away. I have traveled to many parts of the world and it is interesting to see which countries still have T2’s serving faithfully as service vans, taxi’s, and even the occasional ambulance. I’m not sure if your trip will take you this far south, but in Sao Paulo, Brazil a VW bus represents about 1 in every 10 vehicles you see driving by. Safe journey and know that if your bus develops a cold along the way you have a network of folks that can help.
A VW Bus Hearst!! When I die that would be the ultimate final cruise.

Love to see panels at work! One of my favorites is from Clara: http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/221667.jpg
I notice front grills on these. Are they water cooled by chance?
Happy Cinco de Mayo to you guys!
