Border Time, Eh.
Aboot a month after leaving Colorado, we finally reached the Canadian border.
We briefly crossed our prior path from our last exit from Canada near Boners Ferry, before crossing through East Port. Formalities were simple. No car papers – they merely asked where it was registered. Then, lots and lots of questions for me.
“What is your relation to the other people in the car?”
“Have you ever been arrested?”
“Have you ever stood in front of a judge for any reason?”
And about 10 others. Not exactly the welcome wagon, but pretty simple compared to other borders we’ve dealt with.
The weather was great, so we decided we would stop for a celebratory beer in the sunshine at Kimberly. This is a little faux German town not far from the border, where $9 will get you a single beer on the patio. We won’t do that again.
