Arte

We took a little day trip to Niterói thinking it would be nice to get out of the city. Problem was, this is more of a suburb of Rio than another town. Anyway, we decided first check out the Oscar Niemeyer designed Museum of Contemporary Art.

The structure was cool, and I was glad to see first-hand a Niemeyer building (as we aren’t planning to go to Brasilia, the planned capitol city featuring many of his Jetson’s looking designs from the 1960s).  But, the museum left something to be desired. Very small, and a very sad collection of art.

Are you serious? This is art?

We drove a bit further out to Itacoatiara beach – a locals surf beach. It was a nice place to hang for a while without the crowds of Ipanema and Copacabana.

    Nice trip!

I´m from Sao Paulo, and I would not choose Brasilia as a place to live on but I suggest you reconsider about visiting, cause there´s not too many planned cities around the globe, it´s very interesting under the architectural and urban point of view.

    Regards!

Hello buddies! Been following your blog and see you guys are in Brazil! Why not Brasilia???! I know it’s far far away from the sea but there’s many interesting things here and plus there are lots of national parks nearby, check chapada dos veadeiros on google, it’s beautiful! If you change you mind bout coming here, send me an email
